Dr. Janieke Bruin-Mollenhorst is the academic coordinator of the Institute for Ritual and Liturgical Studies.
Janieke defended her dissertation Time to Say Goodbye? A Study on Music, Ritual and Death in October 2021 at Tilburg University. In her dissertation, she studied via the lens of music during contemporary funeral rituals how death is dealt with in the Netherlands. She is coordinator and one of the initiators of the DONE network, a network of scholars in the Netherlands who study death and dying.
Janieke obtained her MA in Culture Studies (track: 'religion and ritual') and BMus in organ and church music. She was a member of the editorial board of Muziek en Liturgie.
