Interpreting the Bible in Ethics

In this course, we explore various ways to connect Biblical texts and contemporary ethics. We discuss the relevance of Biblical theology for contemporary moral questions, introduce different approaches to relating ethics and Biblical theology, and provide examples of how the Bible is - and can be - used in ethical reflection.

  • Course content

    The course addresses four moral themes: warfare and peace, end of life decisions, sexuality, and ecology. This seminar is open to international and Dutch master’s students. In the international Master's programme, this course serves as a preparatory course for the profiles ‘Living texts’ and ‘Ethics of Dignity’.
