Dr Erik Olsman appointed professor of Spiritual Care at PThU
The Executive Board of the Protestant Theological University (PThU) has appointed Dr Erik Olsman as professor of Spiritual Care. On Friday 17 November, the Synod of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands approved the decision for his appointment.
Erik Olsman has been associate professor of Spiritual Care at PThU since 2001.
Erik Olsman's research is concentrated around the theme of 'Hope'. The central question is what role the notion of 'hope' plays within the field of Spiritual Care. And specifically what 'hope' means for people with psychological, physical, mental or other disabilities.
Before joining PThU as associate professor in 2020, Olsman (1980) worked as a spiritual carer in psychiatry and palliative care. He also worked as a medical ethicist in academic hospitals.
