IRTI Summer School 2026: Being Reformed in the 21st Century

6 t/m 10 juli 2026

The twenty-first century brings with it all manner of challenges, some of which we have encountered before, others which are new. In virtually every corner of the world, a tidal wave of change has, as it were, swept through, overturning the previous consensus. Politics, the economy, the digital world and the environment are specific themes that affect us all to varying degrees. The International Summer School of Theology 2026 explores what the Reformed tradition in particular has to offer the world in the search for ways to address these issues.

About the program

We will examine the historical contexts and how the Reformed tradition has addressed similar questions in the past; our contemporary challenges; and how we might look to the future and to the faith we pass on. From its very beginnings, the Reformed tradition has engaged with the social order, and has at times challenged it; the summer school continues this tradition. We explore questions relating to politics, economics, the digital world, the environment and much more within all these themes. Scholars and students from around the world come together to offer unique perspectives on each of these topics, enabling students to gain a more global perspective on these challenges.

Teachers and students from the following locations have confirmed their participation: Amsterdam, Utrecht, New Brunswick (USA), Debrecen, Sárospatak (Hungary).
