Research assessments

Every six years the quality of the research conducted at the Protestant Theological University and its relevance to society is assessed in accordance with the Standard Evaluation Protocol (SEP 2015-2021), published under the authority of the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU), the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), and the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).

In 2018 the research of the PThU in the period 2012 - 2017 was assessed by a committee chaired by Prof. James Kennedy, Professor of Modern Dutch History and Dean of University College Utrecht and consisting of the following experts in the fields of biblical, systematic and practical theology:

  • Prof. Stephan van Erp, Professor of Systematic Theology and the Study of Religions, KU Leuven, Belgium
  • Prof. Jaco Dreyer, Professor of Practical Theology, University of South Africa, Pretoria, South Africa
  • Prof. Jan Willem van Henten, Professor of Religion, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands

The committee was assisted by independent secretary Dr. Chris Mollema.
