From 3 October to 31 December Dr. Jingyi Ji of the Yangjing Theological Seminary, Beijing (China), is staying as a research fellow at the PThU in Groningen.

Dr. Jos de Kock board member of Religious Education Association
During the yearly congress of the Religious Education Association (REA) in St. Louis (V.S.) last weekend, PThU-lecturer dr. Jos de Kock was elected as a member of the board of directors, of the same association.

The PThU grants honorary doctorates to Dr Beatrice de Graaf and Dr Dirkie Smit
Professor Beatrice de Graaf of Utrecht University and the South-African theologian professor Dirkie Smit of Princeton Theological Seminary (U.S.A.) will receive an honorary doctorate of the Protestant Theological University (PThU). The ceremony is part of the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the university, on 9 January 2018 in Groningen.

Council for World Mission (CWM) Theological Education Consultation
PThU Groningen, Oct 30th – Nov 3rd 2017. The Theological Education Consultation follows on from CWM’s first Theological Consultation held between the Caribbean and South Asia in 2016. The Consultation will consider how and if theological education equips churches and theology students to faithfully serving God’s mission in our diverse and complex contemporary world, focussing particularly on Europe and Africa.

Until the end of october Justin Tanis, Managing Director of the Center for LGBTQ and Gender studies in Religion at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkely, California, will stay as research fellow at the PThU in Amsterdam.

PhD Ceremony Stephen Milford
On Thursday, 21 September 2017, Stephen Milford defended his doctoral dissertation at the Academy Building of the University of Groningen (Broerstraat 5, Groningen). The title of his dissertation is: ‘Eccentricity in Anthropologie. David H. Kelsey’s Anthropological Formula as a Way Out of the Substantive-Relational Image Dei Debate’.

Over 85 participants from 17 countries - theologians, students, ministers and others - immersed themselves in these questions during the three days international conference of the Protestant Theological University in Groningen, which was focused on the topic "New Quests for God: Contributions of Theology to a Resilient Society."

Conference on Science, Religion and Intercultural Theology
On 19-20 April 2017 the Protestant Theological University hosts the conference ‘Science and Religion in French-speaking Africa’ in Groningen. Central are the results of a research project by prof. dr. Benno van der Toren and dr. Klaas Bom. During the conference these results will be shared and discussed with a broader audience. We welcome everyone who is interested to join the conference and share in the discussion!
