Dom Hélder Câmara Lecture 2019
Climate and faith. How can this go hand in hand? The Dom Hélder Câmara Lecture 2019 discusses this.
Reading the Bible in Dry Land
What are the implications of the drought that affects Timor and the rest of Indonesia for understanding the Bible? Can the Bible help us deal with this effect of the climate crisis? These questions will be addressed by Dr. Mery Kolimon in her lecture: 'Reading the Bible in Dry Land'. Kolimon is the first woman to be president of the Synod of the Protestant Church of Timor (GMIT Kupang) and teacher of missiology.
Prior to Kolimon's lecture, Embert Messelink will give an introduction on the Dutch context when it comes to climate and faith. Messelink is director of A Rocha Nederland, a movement dedicated to care for creation. Eva van Urk will respond to Kolimon's lecture on the basis of academic theology: she is a PhD-Student at the Vrije Universiteit on the Biblical view of mankind in the context of the climate crisis.
