Afscheidssymposium Heleen Zorgdrager: Activist Theology. Resilient bodies in solidarity

Dr Orysya Bila is associate Professor and Head of the Department of Philosophy at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, where she also serves as Director of the Master’s Program in Theology. Her teaching and research focus on contemporary European philosophy, religious philosophy, and ethics under conditions of war and crisis. Her recent work explores the intersection of moral endurance, justice, and hope in wartime Ukraine, drawing on Hannah Arendt and Avishai Margalit. She has been involved in various international academic networks, including the European Society of Women in Theological Research. 

Prof Dr  Mariecke van den Berg is professor of religion, gender and sexuality at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and endowed professor of feminism and Christianity at Radboud University in Nijmegen (Catharina Halkes Chair). Her research focuses on religion, gender and sexuality in public debates, as well as queer and feminist theology. She uses art and popular culture as a hermeneutical lens to read Biblical texts, and is similarly interested in Biblical afterlives in contemporary popular culture. Her current research focus is on religious / ecclesial boredom. In particular, she investigates how the dullness of exclusionary theologies and faith practices can lead to religious disaffiliation, but also how boredom can be envisioned as a tool for change. Mariecke is an editor of the international journal Religion and Gender, and a board member of the Dutch Society of Queer Theologians. 

Dr. Klaas Bom is associate professor of dogmatics and intercultural theology and director of the MA programmes at the Protestant Theological University. His research themes are Theological anthropology (theory of knowledge, willing and grace), Blaise Pascal, An intercultural approach of the Science and religion interface and Latin-American Pentecostal Theology. 

Renate Japenga MA studeerde in 2023 af met een scriptie over het onderwerp Whiteness. In 2024 begon zij als predikant in de Protestantse Kerk de Ontmoetingskerk in Gouda. Haar theologische interessegebieden omvatten oecumene, feminisme, womanisme, queer-, postkoloniale en bevrijdingstheologie. Zij woont in Schoonhoven met haar drie kinderen; haar echtgenoot wordt liefdevol herdacht.

Donate Philbert-Nieveld MSc is opgeleid tot spraak-, gehoor- en stemtherapeut en werkte op Curaçao, Bonaire en Sint-Maarten. Zij bekleedde leidinggevende functies binnen de overheid, waaronder bij de Burgerlijke Stand van Curaçao en de Dienst Arbeid en Inkomen. Sinds november 2023 maakt zij deel uit van het NWO-onderzoeksproject Church and Slavery in the Dutch Empire: History, Theology & Heritage. Haar werk richt zich op de theologische, historische en erfgoedaspecten van koloniale nalatenschappen en kerkelijke medeplichtigheid. Zij onderzoekt Kerk en Slavernij vanuit het perspectief van tot slaaf gemaakte Afrikanen op Curaçao en in Suriname, met nadruk op hun handelingsvermogen, geloof en erfgoed in de periode 1848–1873.

Noud Fortuin-van der Mik is diaconaal opbouwwerker bij Stek in Den Haag en rondt zijn master Theologie (Master of Divinity) af aan de Protestantse Theologische Universiteit (PThU) in Utrecht. Zijn onderzoek richt zich op de raakvlakken tussen bevrijdingstheologie en queertheologie in Nederland, met nadruk op de geleefde ervaring als uitgangspunt voor theologische reflectie. In zijn masterscriptie onderzocht hij Marcella Althaus-Reids Indecent Theology en de mogelijke toepassing daarvan in Nederland, aan de hand van een casestudy van het Christelijk Collectief tegen Genocide in Gaza (CC). Nouds werk laat zien hoe theologie kan ontstaan vanuit concrete sociale contexten, en hoe zij vragen naar rechtvaardigheid, gemeenschap en geloof in de praktijk kan adresseren.
