Joyce Rondaij is a practical theologian, with a special interest in the use of religious language in secular art practices. Subject of her PhD research is the Italian Jewish writer Primo Levi, focusing on the question how to speak about humanity and God after Auschwitz. In her research she combines the fields of theology, philosophy and literary studies in order to enhance the understanding of Levi’s oeuvre.

She also works as executive manager (ad interim) of the Institute for Ritual and Liturgical Studies (IRiLiS) at the PThU in Amsterdam and is editor of the literary journal Liter.
